Menyan uses the plants, smoke, scent, textiles and clay of diverse lands, working with local artisans to create hand-crafted pieces that invoke the senses.
Inherent to Menyan’s way of life, is knowing how plants can nurture us. Using the seasonal flora of the earth in our artisanal dyes, incense and oils, we capture the potency of the region they come from.We seek to follow the ancient Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana; the harmony between humans, nature and the interconnecting forces that surround us. It’s a philosophy that travels with us as we explore new locations to study the natural ingredients each has to offer. Every land we visit has customs deeply rooted in ceremony, reminding us to take time to appreciate and care for ourselves, others and our surroundings . In this way, our products are to be used to inspire small rituals for the everyday.
Our community of friends around the world make up a big part of who Menyan are. We are lucky to join forces with artisans upholding their own traditons while allowing us to share in their exceptional skills.
We are proud to partner with our dear friend Chakra Widia who runs Tri Hita Karana Bali, 10% of most sales will support Chakra and his efforts of Using permaculture principles, to educate, advocate and act for a sustainable Bali.

Our most loved process is the making of plant-derived scents. Our perfume oil, incense, soaps and scented products utilize botanical elements from diverse geographic locations. We strive to collect resources from as close to origin as possible and are also beginning to distill and create some of our own essential oils, hydrosols and tinctures.
Colectivo 1050 merges the wisdom of tradition with the dynamism of innovation, transforming mud into beauty.
In line with Menyan’s ethos, most of our tinted fibers are plant dyed. We create some of our own dyed products and also collaborate with Tarum in Bali and other smaller dye studios to bring color to our products. Plants commonly used in our products are indigo, sacang wood, mango leaf, sappan wood, and mahogany.
